Hi Ho the Cheerio, a Picking We Will Go!

When I was a little girl,  I remember going several times to pick cherries with my family.  We would take off to Cherry Valley, which seemed like FOREVER to get there, and be so excited to step out, get our canister, and start the picking.  We had ladders to climb up into the trees, and enjoyed tasting as we picked from the trees.

It's been so very long since I've been cherry picking, and I've wanted to take my little ones for a couple of years, but the crops haven't been large enough, and cherry picking season awsn't really opened to the public because of the crops produced.  This year was different, there's a larger crop of cherries, and so a picking we did go!

We all packed into my dad's SUV and we took off to the land of cherries.  We walked in, the girls picked out their little canisters, and they were off picking out their favorites.  Oh, to be little!  They sat there and ate so many cherries as they chose which tree they actually wanted to pick from.  Bella had a canister full of who knows what (soggy, spoiled, rotten, some with holes...you get my drift), that she would spill and then place back in her little canister.  Symph enjoyed running through the trees, and yelling for her gandpo to "try these!".  Baby Dom was chomping away at all the fresh cherries, and his little expressions were so cute,as he tried to figure out what in the world was going on.  He's not used to trees with fruit coming off of every single one.

Our morning was lovely and filled with lots of fun and memories for my kidlets.  I hope that the crops continue to fruitful and that the tradition I had as a child continues on with my family.

This sounds like SO MUCH FUN! We went berry picking today and it was such a different experience to be able to eat the fruit as you picked (it was an organic farm) I want to try cherries now too!
