Glass slippers

So, I have been cleaning out the old clothes of the girls to replace with the new, and figured I should do the same with my own. As I was fixing my shoes in my closet and getting rid of the old ones, I finally decided to part with the wedding shoes. I told Symph, "Look, these were the shoes mama wore when she got married." Her little face was puzzled and she said "No they're not, you wear glass slippers when you get married." I guess my white silver striped Adidas didn't cut the glass slipper mold.

Oh, how I love her little imagination and the process of her thoughts.

Back in the day

I was reminded of fun times with these little scooters. A long drive with the hubby to get them, life insurance purchases, and hopping some curbs and riding in the neighbor's yard. Makes me laugh!

Repairs, gardening, and "I CAN READ"

It was a nice little day, to come home to after church. Dom has my dad's truck to repair and get back on the road, and Symph was right there to learn all about repairing the head. Dom had to leave to get some parts for the truck, and I had the job of being on the lookout for any thieves who would want to steal his tools, or the head from the garage. So, Symph and I planted some Spring mix flowers in the front yard until he returned.
It took a bit longer than I anticipated, and the weather was a bit chilly, so I decided we could sit out and read books until he returned. We started with the learn to read books and she did so great. The words are all repetitive, and so she caught on, but I know it is a great thing for her. I praised her and encouraged her for the great job she did, as she "read" them all alone.

Papa returned and she let him know "I CAN READ!" She read the book to him and he was so very proud, while he chuckled inside. After she read to him, they worked on the truck together. She learned the difference between the different hammers papa has in his garage, and also played a bit while he worked. You can have lots of fun with grease!

Here's a shot of Papa and Symph's work table.

Sunday lookout

We went to a new church today. It's close to home, and seems to be what suits our little family. The study began in Matthew 11, part 59! Very inductive might I say :) The girls loved it, and we will be taking Symph to the Pioneer Girls on Monday, where she will have worship, devotionals, and homework to work on towards earning badges to add to her little purse or sash. We are excited about our new find, and to me it feels like home.

Date night

for the girls this time! We took the girls for Chinese food and to see Horton Hears a Who. Although Bella wasn't completely into it, Symph loved it. She loved the speck and screamed and teared up when the speck was almost destroyed.
After the movie we went to Barnes & Noble and picked up the book for her to add to her little library, along with a box of small books to teach her how to read.
This was a fun night with our little ones, I love date nights!

Cafe piccolo and the gondola getaway

Thanks to my parents, we had a very nice little night out along with my brother and Jess. My parents gave us gift certificates (for Christmas 2005) to this awesome little restaurant and yes, a gondola cruise.

The Cafe Piccolo was by far the best restaurant I have been to, not only for the price of the food (although it was free!) and their amazing appetizers and dishes, but for the excellent service.

The gondola ride was fun, but the tradition of kissing under the bridge was a bit much to me. Not only was I supposed to kiss in front of my brother, but also in front of the man rowing our gondola. That was a bit weird! Aside from this, we were laughed to some sarcasm and entertainment. We were serenaded with three songs, enjoyed a star lit sky, and the red tide that allowed us to see aqua hues in the water each time the paddle came back up. It was the ending to a perfect night!

Dom and I have come to an agreement that this is how our anniversaries will be spent.

Playdates are so much fun!

It was our turn to go towards where True and Brave live to enjoy a playdate. Thanks to Marisa and Isaac, we were chauffeured to the Bratcher's home. We got to take a tour through their lovely house, and the girls would probably have been content had we stayed there, but it was a beautiful day and the park was waiting. We took a nice little walk to the park, and all the little ones enjoyed the sunshine and company of each other. It's probably more fun for us mommies to have playdates than our kids!
Bella looks like she's hugging Isaac, but she's really just being bossy!Check out Brave sucking on her toes, this was too cute!Bella being her bossy self again, probably trying hush Brave...sorry Ruby!

Fun at the zoo

My mom has been wanting to take the girls to the zoo for quite some time, and she happened to have some time off to take them this week, which was perfect for the girls! My dad hates the zoo because of the caged up animals, but at least he got to see it through the perspective of the girls who have never seen or experienced this before, and I know he loved it. My parents were great with the girls and the girls loved spending this day with them.

Bella made us laugh quite a few times, as she offered a relaxing kangaroo some powder, thinking he was getting his diaper changed :) She kept calling out to the animals "wow, wow" and even clapped loudly to get the monkeys to show off.

Symph was so inquisitive about the animals and was loving all the animals, especially being up close and brushing the goats. She made one thing clear, she does not like monkeys. I don't get it, don't all kids love monkeys? She was ready to cry whenever we went up to them. Maybe my endearing name of "Monkey" for the girls isn't so endearing for her?

This was a perfect day to take a stroll at the zoo. The girls got little souvenir cups from my parents, and we were headed home. I loved the exit from the zoo as my dad took turns carrying them on his shoulders and my mom took turns twirling them.

Thank you mom and dad, and nana and grandpo, you both blessed us with a very special day!

A sweet reminder

We love waking up to little notes from papa on the mirrors! I told Symph what it said and how cute the little rabbit and girl was that papa drew for us, when I was quickly corrected that he didn't draw the bunny. Symphony drew the rabbit. She told me it was Ruby from one of her favorite little shows, Max and Ruby, oh, and that Max isn't there because he's at school! So sweet! Pretty impressive for a 4 year old, very detailed too...whiskers, slippers, a little nose, her dress, and those ears!

Happy Resurrection Day (Part 2)

So it was off to the Maestas household for a few fun hours. We took the girls out of the car and changed them into their next set of dresses and we were then ringing the doorbell to start off some more celebrating of this special day.

My dad immediately approached me with something I had to do for him for Krysten, and I was a bit thrown off, but figured out what was going on. Maybe it was Dom that was throwing me off. In the mean time, my girls were starting the sugar and toy overload with their baskets that their tia Jessica and tio Michael gave them.

So back to the colored eggs, we had an egg scavenger hunt! Each one of us had a a certain egg (mine was gold, yes, I am the golden one...totally kidding), and we had to find four eggs to get us to the last one that held the prize. My dad wrote all of the clues for my eggs out and was so cute in his clues, very thoughtful! Anyways, we all came out with a gift card as our prizes for one place or another. I've got money to spend, most likely on some fabric (I'm an addict).
The girls then went inside and opened up their baskets from their grandpo and nana, and got their chocolate fill. After this we had a turkey dinner, and I was very surprised and so happy to see my mother and father-in-law come over to celebrate with us. It was a very nice ending to this day. I'm kind of bummed that I didn't get the food or everyone there in some photos. I get too relaxed and into conversation and totally forget about my family! I'm glad I did get to enjoy it all though!

Happy Resurrection Day (Part 1)

So our holiday celebrations are always filled with running from one stop to the other, trying to be fair to family and friends! Well this time around not only was our time split, but we had clothing to be fairly worn throughout the day! It's funny the things we Aguiars do! We changed the girls three times in order to let them use each dress they were given. It was fun and hey, the last two are stained with the memories of what they enjoyed that day!

We went to church with my family and were then off to the Aguiar's to enjoy a nice brunch. Dom's dad made choriza, one of his specialties, along with pancakes and scrambled eggs, and his mom made her sweet bread, which she seems a bit embarrassed by it's appearance, but I think it looked lovely.

After brunch the girls dyed eggs, went out on an egg hunt, and played a few games with their tia Susie, Marlee and Meaghann. After this we headed on to Part 2 of our Resurrection Day Celebration.

On a friday afternoon

After all the picking up in the house was finished, and after BellaSymphony and Etsy work was taken care of, we had a nice little afternoon outside. As I got ready I heard the ice cream man and continued to debate whether I should even try to make it before he left our area. Well, I then got the girls ready and he was still out there, so we rushed to get some ice cream to cool us down on this warm Spring day.

Symph and Bella anxiously awaited playing with the neighborhood kids while they ate their little ice creams, a push pop and a ninja turtle. Once they finished we opened a large box that had been sitting at the door, and found lots of goodies that their titia had blessed them with for Easter. They both got two beautiful little dresses each, little plush animals, and baskets filled with goodies. They are truly blessed and loved!

Well it was on to fun and messy homemade bubbles, scooters, running, and just hanging out and being a kid. I'm not sure if I'm ready for this. My girls, especially Symph, are getting so big and independent.

I love these beautiful girls and I am so very thankful to be at home with them to enjoy simple little days like these.

And so it ends

Every so often papa got to fill in for my bother Michael's slow-pitch team at the Quakes Stadium. The girls always enjoy going because they get to hang out with their Nana, and tias Jessica, Krysten, and Marisa along with Isaac. Not to mention the fun we have cheering on their papa,"Pampoon"or grandpa, and their tios Michael and Simon. I do have to mention one of Symph's favorite forms of entertainment...sliding down the railing for the stairs.

The season is over, and we look forward to a new one of cheering Dom on as he will be an actual player now, not a fill in! We need to make our sign "Go Papa Babe!"

A tuesday with

Avô and avó, makes for a wonderful day for Symphony and Bella
